A man who stole $1.6 million from a Downey hospital more than two decades ago, then fled the country and began living in Thailand under an assumed identity, was sentenced Monday to five years in federal prison.
Gerald McAfee was also ordered to pay $1.4 million in restitution by U.S. District Judge Manuel Real.
McAfee was extradited from Thailand last year where he had been living as an Irish expatriate with a fraudulently obtained Irish passport.
