NATIONAL BRIEFING / NEW YORK

Coney Island’s Cyclone roller coaster will roar back to life this weekend for one more summer before the amusement area by the fabled Brooklyn boardwalk is overhauled.
The ride is to open today along with attractions like the Wonder Wheel and Shoot the Freak, which lets people shoot paint balls at a human target.
The city is seeking to redevelop the aging playground where millions of New Yorkers once summered. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s plan includes high-rise hotels, stores and the city’s first new roller coaster since the wooden Cyclone was built more than 80 years ago.
