CHICAGO -- No meltdowns for the Chicago Bears this time. Instead, they came up with a big stand.

Alex Brown stopped Correll Buckhalter at the goal line late in the game, and Chicago (2-2) hung on to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-20, after losses to Carolina and Tampa Bay that raised questions about their killer instinct.

The Eagles (2-2) threatened to take the lead after a 41-yard field goal by the Bears’ Robbie Gould made it a four-point game with 10:28 left, launching a 75-yard drive that took nearly seven minutes. Problem was, they needed 76, and Buckwalter was stopped by Brown on fourth down. In the first half, Chicago’s Kyle Orton picked apart a defense that sacked Ben Roethlisberger eight times while beating Pittsburgh last week, but Orton was shaky in the second half.
