Re “Ads between Amber Alerts?” Sept. 24
Let me get this straight. The government outlaws the use of cellphones because they distract drivers. But now it wants to put up all kinds of information on the state-owned freeway signs so the state can get money for the roads.
Are officials really so totally clueless that they do not think those signs will distract drivers more?

Has it occurred to anyone that using the signs for advertising will negate their importance? People will simply stop paying attention and will miss what could be a crucial message. Sometimes there are more important things than making money.
