From big screen to opera stage
Thank YOU for the well-written article about L.A. Opera’s season-opening operas [“Movie Magic, Please” by Diane Haithman, Aug. 31]. Her interesting delve into the challenges of using film directors on the opera stage is informative and balanced.
I take exception only with your editors, who refer the reader to Page 11, not Page 6, in the headline piece, and who fail to mention Saturday’s opening night production of “Il Trittico” in the classical section of The Guide. It seems as though the editors and the critics don’t read the features or the paid advertising.
Congratulations to you for your article, and shame on them for their negligence.

President, L.A. Opera Board of Directors
