Record vs. Hurricanes (2006-07) -- 0-1.
Update -- Carolina forward Eric Staal, the team’s leading scorer last season, did not practice Saturday after injuring his shoulder in a 4-3 overtime loss the night before against the Kings, but he is expected to play. Another forward, Tuomo Ruutu, is doubtful with a groin injury. These teams last met Dec. 29, 2006, when Carolina won, 4-2, in Raleigh, N.C. That loss was just the fifth of the season for the Ducks, a mark they can reach tonight in just their sixth game. Carolina won the Stanley Cup in 2006 but missed the playoffs the last two seasons. Anaheim won the Cup in 2007 and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs a year later.
