Leftist terrorist may be freed

A former top member of the leftist Red Army Faction terrorist group can be released from prison Jan. 3 after 26 years in prison for nine murders, a German court ruled.
The Red Army Faction killed 34 people before it disbanded in 1998. It sought to overthrow the West German government and fight perceived U.S. imperialism.
The Stuttgart state court ruled that Christian Klar, 56, was no longer a threat, spokeswoman Josefine Koeblitz said. Germany’s police union decried the decision, saying Klar had shown no remorse.
