at San Diego 12, Cincinnati 9 (18): Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run homer on a full-count pitch with two out in the 18th inning to lift the Padres in a game that lasted 5 hours and 57 minutes, the third-longest in Reds’ history.
at Pittsburgh 6, Chicago 5 (11): Jason Bay beat the Cubs with an extra-inning single for the second day in a row, delivering a two-out line drive in the 11th inning. The Pirates tied it in the ninth inning on a dropped fly ball by Alfonso Soriano, who lost it in the sun.
at Colorado 4, New York 1: Seth Smith hit his first major league homer -- a three-run shot -- to back an impressive start by Aaron Cook (7-3). Cook allowed four hits, all singles, in his seventh career complete game.
at Florida 8-5, San Francisco 6-4: The Marlins swept a doubleheader as Dan Uggla hit one of their four homers in the opener before hitting a bases-loaded, two-out single in the ninth inning in the second game.
Philadelphia 15, at Houston 6: Chase Utley and Shane Victorino each had three runs batted in for the Phillies, who had 16 hits and scored six runs in the seventh.
Arizona 9, at Atlanta 3: Eric Byrnes hit his first career grand slam to knock Tom Glavine (2-2) out of the game after 4 2/3 innings. Braves pitchers issued 11 walks.
at Washington 7, Milwaukee 6: Elijah Dukes scored on Guillermo Mota’s ninth-inning wild pitch, lifting the Nationals after they blew a 6-0 lead.
at Dodgers 4, St. Louis 3 (10): Andre Ethier singled home the winning run in the 10th inning.
