Mattel Inc.’s Fisher-Price unit won a $5.7-million award from Dorel Industries Inc.’s Safety 1st unit in a lawsuit over patents for baby bassinets and bouncers.
Fisher-Price sued Montreal-based Dorel in 2001, claiming that some of the company’s Bouncenette bouncers and Magic Motion bassinets infringed El Segundo-based Mattel’s patents. Dorel’s juvenile-products group, based in Columbus, Ind., makes goods under the Safety 1st and Cosco brands.
