* Boston 4, at Seattle 2: Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up two runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings, J.D. Drew homered and the Red Sox won their second straight over the Mariners after a five-game road losing streak. Matsuzaka (11-1), who is 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in eight road starts this year, had his scoreless-innings streak ended at 25 on Ichiro Suzuki’s RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.
* Oakland 8, at Tampa Bay 1: Dallas Braden gave up one run over five innings and Jack Hannahan hit a three-run homer at St. Petersburg, Fla., as the Athletics ended a six-game losing streak.
* at New York 8, Minnesota 2: The Yankees scored a combined seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings, with Bobby Abreu and Derek Jeter driving in five of them, to win their ninth straight home game.
* at Chicago 10, Texas 2: Mark Buehrle pitched 7 1/3 innings and Alexei Ramirez hit the first grand slam of his career as the White Sox increased their Central Division lead to 1 1/2 games over Minnesota.
* Toronto 10, at Baltimore 8: Adam Lind had four hits, including a three-run homer, and light-hitting John McDonald had four RBIs for the Blue Jays, who overcame an early 4-0 deficit. The Orioles have lost 10 of 14.
* Detroit 7, at Kansas City 1: Kenny Rogers gave up four hits in six innings, and Placido Polanco homered and scored three runs for the Tigers. The game was delayed 2 hours 20 minutes by rain in the seventh inning.
* at Angels 3, Cleveland 2: Jeff Mathis’ go-ahead homer in the fifth inning ended a five-for-34 rut, and Francisco Rodriguez’s 41st save surpassed his 2007 total with 62 games remaining.
