Elderly man’s burned body found in house fire
An elderly man died Sunday in an early-morning house fire, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the single-story residence on 104th Street just after 6:15 a.m., said Ron Meyers, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
After extinguishing the blaze in under half an hour, they discovered the charred body of the man, who was thought to be in his mid-90s, Meyers said.
He said the cause of the fire and whether there were any working alarms in the house were still under investigation. Coroner’s investigators were working to confirm the man’s identity using dental records because his body had been so badly burned.
