* San Diego 10, at Arizona 2: Greg Maddux (11-9) won for the first time in Phoenix and extended his streak without a walk to 49 1/3 innings over seven starts, and Brian Giles hit two of five homers by the first-place Padres, who took a one-game lead in the National League West.
* at Colorado 7, San Francisco 4: Chris Iannetta’s two-run triple highlighted a seven-run third inning, and the Rockies moved to within four games of Arizona in the NL wild-card race. Colorado has won four of five games and seven of 10.
* at Atlanta 5, Philadelphia 1: Lance Cormier (2-4) earned his second straight win, giving up four hits -- including three to Chase Utley -- and the Braves ended a three-game losing streak.
* Houston 9, at Milwaukee 7: Rookie Hunter Pence tripled against reliever Greg Aquino (0-1) in the eighth inning to tie the score, 7-7, and scored on a passed ball by Johnny Estrada.
* Pittsburgh 11, at St. Louis 0: Ian Snell (9-11) threw seven scoreless innings to win for only the second time in 11 starts, Jack Wilson matched a career high with four hits and the Pirates ended a five-game losing streak.
* at Washington 6, Florida 3: Jason Bergmann (3-5) struck out nine, Wily Mo Pena homered and the Nationals won for the third consecutive time since losing seven games in a row.
* New York 10, at Cincinnati 4: Pedro Martinez, back on the mound for the first time in nearly a year, got his 3,000th strikeout.
* Dodgers 11, at Chicago 3: Esteban Loaiza (1-0) outpitched Carlos Zambrano in his Dodgers debut.
