Succulent salute in South Africa

Re “Did Succulents Save Her Home?” [Nov. 8]: As a regular reader online of your gardening columns, I thought you may like to know Aloe arborescens is known in South Africa as Krantz aloe.

I have often seen it here survive veld fires. Likewise agapanthus.
