Film editors laud Dede Allen
Respected veteran film editor Dede Allen, a triple Academy Award-nominee who got her start in 1943 as a messenger for Columbia Pictures, has received the Motion Picture Editors Guild’s prestigious 2007 Fellowship and Service Award.
Allen, whose extensive filmography includes “The Hustler,” “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Dog Day Afternoon” and “The Wonder Boys,” “paved the way for women in her field and has reached the top as a respected industry leader,” said MPEG President Lisa Churgin in a statement.
After 60-plus years in the business, Allen isn’t retiring. She’s currently editing the film “Fireflies in the Garden,” a 2008 release.
