Cal Poly Pomona (0-0) at UC Santa Barbara (2-1), 7 p.m. -- The Broncos and Gauchos are meeting for the first time since 1972. Santa Barbara, ranked No. 23 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major poll, is led by Alex Harris, who averaged 23 points in three games of the Stanford tournament. The Broncos, a Division II team, were 20-8 last season and are picked to finish second in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.
Utah State (2-1) at Cal Poly SLO (1-2), 7:30 p.m. -- Mustangs forward Matt Hanson was named to the all-tournament team at Northern Iowa after averaging 13 points and 8.7 rebounds in three games, but Cal Poly shot only 40% from the field and 67.2% from the free throw line. Utah State, a former Big West rival, was picked to win the Western Athletic Conference and is led by Jaycee Carroll with 22.7 points a game.
UC Riverside (0-2) at Eastern Washington (0-2), 7:45 p.m. -- Larry Cunningham averaged 17.5 points, including 22 against Texas Arlington, in the first two games for the Highlanders, who are in the middle of a four-game trip to open the season. Eastern Washington, coming off of a 15-14 season in 2006-07, has lost to Washington State and New Mexico.
