Guerra Estate restoration
Very nice article on “California Romantica” [“Casa California,” Nov. 1]. I understand that Diane Keaton’s celebrity status fueled it, but it’s still nice to see the coverage.
One of the pictures shows the glass mosaic outside of the living room at the Guerra Estate in La Canada Flintridge. I lived in, and partially restored, that house for about a year and have been involved in the restoration of many Paul Williams-designed houses throughout Los Angeles.
The Guerras have done a great job in continuing the restoration and upgrading the systems and underpinnings of the house, the grounds and the outbuildings. The Marble Room in the main house is worth the price of admission, all by itself.
For 42 years before the property was owned by the Guerras, the property was known as the Edelbrock Estate. We have the original Paul Williams drawings for the house. As you may know, Williams’ offices were burned in the L.A. riots, so his drawings are rare beasts!
