A SAN PEDRO INSTITUTION
Your article on San Pedro [Go, Nov. 8] was very interesting. However, I’m sorry you didn’t include the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in your coverage.
A city of Los Angeles facility, the aquarium, which has been in existence for more than 70 years, features the marine life of Southern California. It is unique among aquariums in that it is located near a marine life refuge, a salt marsh and both an inner and outer beach -- all of which define its exhibits and programs. It has a strong educational component for all ages.
Though it is justifiably famous for its “grunion runs” in the late spring and early summer months, it is a popular destination for school groups. And I should add, it is affordable: The suggested donation for adults is $5, children and seniors are $1.
