Falling beam kills man in gutted building

A worker was killed Saturday by a falling beam while cleaning up at a construction site, police said. Lt. William Eriksen said the man was picking up debris inside an office building that was being gutted in the 9100 block of Westminster Boulevard.
Paramedics took him to Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The 11:18 a.m. incident will be investigated by state safety officials, said Eriksen. His identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.
