Home listing rundown, without the runaround

As if buying a home in today’s topsy-turvy market weren’t nerve-racking enough, some online realty services can make the process even tougher with websites that are difficult to use.
Enter Movoto.com, an easy-to-navigate real estate search website. The Redwood City-based company recently expanded its San Francisco Bay Area service to Southern California. The online company provides lists of homes for sale in 60 Southland communities; detailed property specifications; neighborhood demographics; crime statistics; information about recently sold homes; lists of nearby schools, markets, restaurants and more. The service is free to consumers.
Additionally, users can be matched with pre-screened, licensed agents with expertise in the buyer’s area of geographical interest.
What sets this site apart from some of the well-known national online realty services is the ease of navigation. Users click on the name of the city in which they’re interested in buying. That takes them to a list of homes for sale, in ascending price order. Each listing includes the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the price, a map and more.
One click on an individual home listing gets details about the house, the Multiple Listing Service number and usually a photograph. Schools and retail-store information also are available on this page.
The website -- www.movoto.com -- also provides lists of neighborhood open houses, agents, buyers’ tips and more.
