Spectator hurt after man leaps to death
One man is dead after reportedly leaping from a cliff near the harbor in San Pedro on Friday, and another man was critically injured when he fell from the bluff while watching investigators, police said.
The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. near Port Fermin when the crew of a helicopter spotted a body below the bluff. As rescue personnel recovered the victim, the second man climbed a guardrail, apparently to get a better view, and fell, police spokesman Martha Garcia said.
“He was a spectator who became part of the incident,” Garcia said.
The injured man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Neither victim was identified.
