Alarcon sworn in as City Council member
From Times Staff Reports
Richard Alarcon was sworn in Friday as a member of the City Council, filling the vacancy left when Alex Padilla was elected to the state Senate last year.
Alarcon represents the 7th District in the northeast San Fernando Valley. He held the seat from 1993 to 1999 before moving to the state Legislature. He was reelected to the city post earlier this month, after voters eased term limits.
“The reporters keep asking me what it’s like coming back to City Hall, and I tell them it’s like I didn’t leave,” Alarcon said.
