Sometimes the pop world seems to be all scowling rappers, sexy divas and angry young rockers, but there is one island of wholesomeness out there. Josh Groban has carved a niche as the prince of old-fashioned, classical-tinged pop, attracting a large audience (including Oprah Winfrey, who’s had him on her TV show several times) that’s hungry for some romantic, power-tenor expression. The Angeleno will be joined by veteran African singer Angelique Kidjo at his big hometown concert.
Josh Groban, with Angelique Kidjo, Staples Center, 1111 S. Figueroa St., L.A. 8 p.m. Saturday. $35 to $99. (213) 742-7340.
