Ask questions about healthcare
Re “Assembly Republicans offer free-market healthcare plan,” March 14
Republican Assembly leader Michael Villines of Clovis needs some basic education on healthcare policy. He should begin with these questions: Which countries have the healthiest populations? What kind of healthcare policies do these countries have? And last but not least, why don’t we have the same thing here?
The answer to that last question is this: Because the marketplace that controls our system is concerned only with making a profit for shareholders and executives -- not with providing good care. And could these be the same corporations and executives giving campaign contributions to Republican candidates? You think?
