A Huntington Beach boy who allegedly stabbed a retired Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been charged as an adult with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Luke Artinger, 16, is accused of critically wounding Ronald Chaver on Wednesday near a pet store after Chaver allegedly confronted him about graffiti behind the business.
Chaver, 43, was in stable but guarded condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Artinger, who will be arraigned March 23, is being held without bail and could face a maximum of 13 years in prison, said Susan Kang Schroeder, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
