Tough questions for Texas

Re “Texas may pull up the welcome mat,” Feb. 27

I’m curious to know whether the Texas lawmakers are planning on applying this law to all illegal immigrants (e.g. Africans, Europeans, Middle Easterners, Asians, etc.) and not just Mexicans or others of Latino descent.

Surely the undocumented immigrants in Texas provide great profits to those Lone Star politicians who have suggested stripping services to children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants. Such a proposal is one that only a bully would initiate: go after the weakest, not the most influential. Moreover, nowhere in the article was there any mention of punishing employers who knowingly hire the undocumented and profit from their services. To do so would undoubtedly limit future campaign funding for most Texas politicians.
