Dirk Nowitzki scored 10 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter and LeBron James missed two free throws and two three-point shots in the final 13.7 seconds in the Dallas Mavericks’ 95-92 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night at Dallas. It was the Mavericks’ franchise-record-tying 14th consecutive victory. James had 39 points.
Portland 127, Charlotte 90 -- Rookie LaMarcus Aldridge scored 30 points, Zach Randolph and Martell Webster each had 20, and the Trail Blazers won at Portland, Ore.

Steve Patterson, the president and general manager of the Trail Blazers, resigned after owner Paul Allen was unwilling to renew his contract. Tod Leiweke, chief executive of the Seattle Seahawks, will take over while a full-time replacement is found.
