Man will plead guilty to illicit tech exports
A Yorba Linda man has agreed to plead guilty to a five-count federal charge of exporting sensitive technology without a license, authorities said Monday.
Samuel Shangteh Peng, 56, is accused of illegally exporting equipment used to monitor vibration in aircraft engines to an aeronautics company in Bangalore, India, in 1999 and 2000 while he was international sales manager for an Orange County electronics manufacturer. The equipment can be used in civilian and military planes.
Peng is scheduled to appear Aug. 20 in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
