Controller says she won’t seek 5th District seat

City Controller Laura Chick said Monday that she would not run for the City Council’s 5th District in 2009 when she is forced from office by term limits.
This year, she expressed interest in the Westside district because she grew up there. Since then, a recall effort has been launched against incumbent Jack Weiss, who is running for city attorney in 2009.
Also Monday, former City Controller Rick Tuttle said he was exploring running for the 5th District seat.
