SWAROVSKI crystals. Crocodile-printed yellow leather. Embossed equestrian patterns. If your idea of home resembles a luxury handbag (or if your monogram is FF), the first West Coast showroom of Fendi Casa wants to fulfill your fantasy. In keeping with its high-fashion profile, Fendi will offer four furniture collections a year -- lavish minimalist pieces including seductively curvaceous black-lacquer chests and movie-star chaises with $20,000-plus price tags. For mere mortals, Fendi Casa pillows (from $300) and fragranced candles ($110 each) are emblazoned with the company’s signature Fs. Unrestrained logo placements aside, the furniture offers some solid innovations: The Oasi chair ($5,340 as shown at right) is made of all-weather vinyl. An embellished piece of Peruvian craft

Celebrated for mixing crafts and industrial manufacturing, Dutch designer Hella Jongerius has crafted felt-covered metal stools and hand-embroidered pottery, among other creations. For Artecnica’s Design With Conscience project promoting creative work in developing countries, Jongerius teamed with artisans in a coca-leaf growing region of Peru to produce Beads and Pieces, a collection of decorative ceramic vessels. The pieces, made from clay blackened with ash, have traditional Peruvian forms. Jongerius’ flourishes include hand-beaded embellishments that incorporate motifs from the indigenous Shipibo tribal members who make the bowls. The design shown here is $132 at Show, 1722 N. You can see clearly now

Intent on finding a way to float artwork in a room, Patrick Dragonette, owner of one of the city’s most reliable showrooms for Hollywood Regency decor, has designed the Clearly Better easel. The transparent acrylic stand replicates the look of an artist’s stand. REDISCOVERED

Goodbye to the gilding

Based on an 18th-century Louis XV console from a Florentine estate, the gilded and marble-topped Palazzo Capponi table has long been a classic reproduction piece for William Switzer & Associates. Now, thanks to the creativity of William’s son Allan, the ornate table has been given a 21st century update as part of a line called William Switzer Revisits the Classics. The hand-carved pinewood base is 6 feet long, the grain accentuated with an acid bath to attain a driftwood-like appearance. The base is available in matte brown and gray as well as a natural finish; it can be paired with a marble top or, “for Kelly Wearstler fans,” Switzer says, a lacquered wood top in chartreuse and fuchsia.
