Winds close roads and damage three houses
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Gusting winds and blowing sand closed roads and damaged several homes in Palm Springs on Tuesday.
Authorities closed Gene Autry Trail between Vista Chino and Interstate 10 in the afternoon because of weather conditions that reduced driver visibility to zero, said fire engineer Chris Kramer.
The winds damaged homes in the southern part of the city, along Madrona Drive, Kramer said, blowing off three houses’ solar panels and scattering patio furniture around the neighborhood.
