Buyers willing to pay for ‘green’

U.S. home buyers like their houses “green” and are willing to pay a premium for that, according to a recently published study.
More than half of the 250 residential builders surveyed by Green Builder Media and Imre Communications said buyers are willing to pay 11% to 25% extra for environmentally friendly homes.
The typical green-home buyer is 35 to 50 years old and holds a college degree, the study found.
Green building refers to construction practices such as on-site energy production, water harvesting and the use of sustainable materials.
