The guided tour: While visiting western Ghana, Cary Sullivan of Pacific Palisades and his family wandered to a village on the Ankobra River, looking for a guide. “We found two guys named Chef and Nation,” Sullivan recalled. “It was absolutely beautiful. At the end we came to a clearing where there was an old man who lived and sold raffia wine, a form of palm wine tapped from the raffia palm. A perfect way to take a break on our journey.”
