Dangerous reptiles bring probation
A plumber was sentenced Thursday to three years’ probation and 10 days’ community service after pleading guilty to possession of two illegal firearms, 27 poisonous snakes and a 3-foot alligator.
Christopher Shawn Hendry, 25, was also ordered by Superior Court Judge Herbert J. Exharhos to stop buying venomous and dangerous reptiles over the Internet. The alligator and the snakes -- including cobras, vipers and rattlesnakes -- have been turned over to the San Diego Zoo.
