Hawaii beats Long Beach State
Hawaii took a 16-point second-half lead and held off Long Beach State, 61-57, Sunday at Honolulu.
The 49ers, who trailed 54-38 with 8 minutes 56 seconds left, closed to within 61-57 with 2:05 left on a free throw by Donovan Morris. That ended up being the final point of the game.
Morris led Long Beach State (2-6) with 24 points.
Riley Luettgerodt had a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors, who had 15 steals. Hawaii (3-4) improved to 3-2 at home.
Northern Arizona 85, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 51 -- Zach Filzen scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the first half and Kyle Landry had 16 points to lead the Lumberjacks at Flagstaff, Ariz. Northern Arizona (5-4) led by five late in the first half when Filzen scored six consecutive points and carried the Lumberjacks to a 48-25 halftime edge. Trae Clark led Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (4-4) with 11 points.
