Attorney general’s resignation: An article and an official White House transcript in Monday’s Section A on the resignation of U.S. Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales reported that President Bush said, “It’s sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is impeded from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons.” In delivering his statement, Bush said “impeding.”
