EU agrees to resume aid for Gaza fuel

The European Union agreed to resume funding fuel shipments to the Gaza Strip’s main power plant after receiving assurances that it will have oversight to ensure revenue is not diverted to the Hamas movement that controls the territory.
Starved of EU-funded and Israeli-supplied fuel, the plant had cut off power to large parts of the territory. Kanaan Abaid, deputy chairman of the Palestinian Energy Authority in Gaza, said full power should be restored by midday today.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces going after Palestinian militants in Gaza killed five people, including two children. The army said troops targeted two figures spotted near a rocket launcher.
