Vote delayed on racial profiling inquiry rules

The Police Commission on Tuesday delayed endorsing new guidelines for investigating allegations of racial profiling by officers after some members said more action is needed to address their concerns that the department has never found an officer guilty of the practice.
“No institution is perfect,” said Commission President John Mack. He said more work needs to be done to improve the investigations of racial profiling but also said it was a “giant step” that the department has developed new guidelines.
