Three passengers die when car hits tree

Three people were killed Tuesday when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree, authorities said.
Two unidentified males and one unidentified female, all believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, died in the crash, which occurred about 7 p.m. on Colima Road near Mar Vista Street, said Whittier Police Officer Diana Salazar.
The female driver of the 2006 Toyota Scion and a male passenger survived the wreck and were hospitalized. The driver was expected to live; the passenger’s condition was unknown, Salazar said.
