Calpine to Sell Plant to Aquila for $158.5 Million

Calpine Corp. agreed to sell a 600-megawatt power plant in Cass County, Mo., for $158.5 million to Aquila Inc.
The San Jose-based energy producer filed its intention to sell the assets with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. The sale requires court approval.
Calpine is selling at least a dozen plants to raise money for creditors owed more than $22.5 billion at the time of its December bankruptcy filing.
Aquila, based in Kansas City, Mo., operates electric and natural gas utilities serving about 1 million customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
