Man Facing Charge of Performing Lewd Act

A German tourist arrested in Oakland is awaiting transportation to Orange County for allegedly performing a lewd act on an 8-year-old girl at Newport Dunes Aquatic Park, police said Tuesday.
Michael Roeder, 27, of Augsburg, Germany, was arrested over the weekend after returning a rented recreational vehicle in which he and two companions had been touring California and Nevada.
Police had been looking for Roeder since Aug. 23, when the girl’s parents reported that she had been the victim of an unspecified lewd act while playing at the park.
Investigators were able to identify the tourist, who was preparing to leave the United States.
