Court Restores Name of Term Limits Measure
- Share via
The 2nd District Court of Appeal on Tuesday reinstated the original title of a City Council-sponsored ballot measure to ease term limits for its members.
The title reinstated is “Council member term limits of three terms.” A suit brought by a neighborhood council member sought to use the phrase “lengthening council member term limits” to better inform voters of the measure’s intent.
A Superior Court judge struck down the original title, but the city appealed. The appeals court ruled that the title was factually accurate, even if it could have been more informative.
