“WE just spent a great long weekend in Paso Robles and happened upon a wonderful new place to eat. It has only been open for six months. Ristorante da Gaetano, better known as Gaetano’s, was superb. It is in an adorable little cottage. Nice and cozy. We loved it so much that we ate there three nights in a row.” Entrees from $13.

“An island in the St. Lawrence River, Ile d’Orleans, just a few minutes from Quebec, offers an intriguing alternative to the city. The setting of our bed-and- breakfast was idyllic. The island has lovely views, shops and galleries, good restaurants, a bakery, a cheese maker and a winery with black currant wines.”
