2007’s Postal Service stars

WASHINGTON — Arts and culture will be well represented in the Postal Service’s new commemorative postage stamps for 2007. Among them:
* James Stewart, star of such films as “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” will be featured on the 13th Legends of Hollywood stamp.
* The honoree in the Black Heritage series will be Ella Fitzgerald, widely known as the first lady of song for her great vocal range, flexibility and the joy she brought to music.
* Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow becomes the 23rd person honored in the Literary Arts series.
* “The Madonna of the Carnation,” by Italian Renaissance painter Bernardino Luini.
* Ten Marvel superheroes will be on display. They are Captain America, Elektra, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Sub-Mariner, the Incredible Hulk, the Thing and Wolverine.
* Artist Louis Comfort Tiffany.
