Compton’s homicide total climbs to 30

A man was shot to death Sunday in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. in the 100 block of West Caldwell Street, said Deputy Oscar Butao.
The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital, Butao said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the killing, the 30th in Compton this year.
