This is a classic Austrian Riesling from the ever-reliable Willi Brundlmayer in the Kamptal region northwest of Vienna, one of the biggest and most consistently excellent producers in Austria. It’s one of those basics that’s so versatile, it pays to buy more than a single bottle. The firm, flowery wine has lovely herbal notes and minerality that makes it a terrific match with chilled seafood. Think oysters, clams, white Mexican shrimp, and now, in this season, spiny lobster. It shows its mettle with Asian foods too.
