There’s more danger on our own streets

I read the Travel section every Sunday, and the alerts put out by the State Department never cease to amaze me.
Being an independent traveler who is gone from this country more than 50% of each year, I am infinitely safer the moment I leave it. Statistically there is nowhere on a day-to-day basis more dangerous than the streets of any large city in the U.S., and that is particularly true of Los Angeles.
Perhaps the State Department should be contacted and made to include American cities in their alerts.
