Court Allows Abortion in Some Limited Cases

From Times Wire Reports

A Colombian court has ruled that abortion can be allowed in cases of incest or rape, if the woman’s life is endangered or if the fetus is so deformed that it would be unable to live outside the womb.

Roman Catholic Cardinal Pedro Rubiano threatened to excommunicate women who undergo the procedure.

The 5-3 ruling Wednesday overturned a complete ban on abortion that carried penalties of up to four years in jail.
