Stance on sex clubs reveals homophobia

The March 16 editorial “Sex and safety” seems to assume that all sex happens in sex clubs. While there is a token pretense about also talking about straight sex clubs, the truth is found in the final paragraph that talks about men with HIV and says to pull the plug on bathhouses.
Unsafe and safe sex occur everywhere. Shall the county also regulate motels? Shall bars be shut down because people go home together and might have unsafe sex? Go into people’s homes?
Sex is a private affair, but The Times does not think so if it happens in a certain place and, apparently, if it is gay.
