If I was an American League fan I would love to shake Phil Garner’s hand and thank him for not using Nomar Garciaparra, who is the NL’s leading hitter and is hitting over .500 in the last three innings. Well done, Phil.

Don’t retire Eric Gagne yet. I operated on two Angels, Bill Singer and Bobby Grich. Singer won 12 games after his back operation and Grich still holds Angels records in virtually every category for a second baseman.

In the good hands Gagne is in, he will do well and pitch again.
