A 25-acre brush fire in Westlake Village briefly threatened homes early Saturday evening, triggering voluntary evacuations from nearby buildings before firefighters brought the blaze under control, Los Angeles County fire officials said.
A passerby notified authorities about 5:20 p.m. that several children were trying to put out flames near Agoura and Lindero Canyon roads, said Ed Pickett, a supervising county fire dispatcher. He said investigators did not know if the children started the fire.
More than 300 firefighters battled the flames, using bulldozers, about 35 fire engines and four helicopters.
The fire was fully contained by 7 p.m.
